This knife is made of Damascus steel, pattern-welded steel with 512 layers of hard higher carbon steel and soft lower carbon steel. The blade is handmade, forged, and welded. It is twisted, ground, and flattened before it is forge-welded some more. The stack of steel used to make the blade is formed into a billet that is used to make the knife. It is profiled, ground, and heat-treated in order to reveal its striking pattern.
