The steel is high carbon steel, 58-60 on the Rockwell hardness scale, which means it is tougher than Damascus steel but softer than stainless steel. The handle is made of wood and has brass pins that make it very sturdy. 

This is a beautiful, handmade knife made of high-quality, genuine steel. Its blade is hand-forged with a hardness of 50 to 55 Rockwell scale.
